Frequently asked questions

Why is there new Australia Post TravelSIM?

We asked over 10,000 customers what they would like from their Australia Post TravelSIM for their next overseas trip. The response was fantastic and many of the new features (like free to receive calls in all Zone 1 and 2 countries (over 180 countries in total) and the purchase of data packs in over 90 Zone 1 countries) has come from this customer feedback.

All this adds up to a superior Australia Post TravelSIM experience when you next travel overseas.

What happens if I am travelling overseas soon?

During the upgrade process you will be asked for your next departure date. If we cannot get the new SIM to you in time, don't worry you can still take the old one and we will hold onto your new SIM until you return. Let us know once you're home and we will transfer your number and credit to the new SIM and pop it in the mail for you then.

What happens with my existing credit?

Your existing credit will be transferred to your new SIM and credit expiry extended to 180-days.

What happens with my existing TravelSIM number?

Your existing number will be transferred to your new SIM and ready for use when you receive it.

What happens if I choose NOT to upgrade?

You can still use your existing SIM but will not have access to the cheaper rates, features (including free to receive calls) and Zone 1 Data Packs available with the new SIM.

We recommend you take advantage of this special upgrade offer for loyal customers whilst available.

Can I get a refund of current balance if I choose not to upgrade?

No, your current credit balance and credit expiry will remain as it is currently with your existing SIM card and account.

Can my upgraded SIM be sent to a PO Box?

Sorry, we can only send SIM cards to a residential address.

How much does it cost to upgrade?

You can view your upgrade offer here.

If I upgrade do I keep the same SIM?

No, when you choose an upgrade offer we will send you a new SIM. (free postage to Australian residential addresses)

How long until I receive my new TravelSIM in the mail?

Your SIM will be sent via standard post and should arrive within an estimated 3-10 business days.

No bill shock and easy to use.

Just returned from Italy, Greece and Singapore and found the Australia Post TravelSIM worked really well. Got the bonus 1GB data, recharged twice using the app - no problem. Reasonable charge rates for calls and SMS. No bill shock, easy to use and set up. Can recommend for peace of mind while travelling.

Very convenient.

It worked straight off as soon as I arrived in India; hooked up to the local network, and I was able to SMS my family every day, and call them by voice as needed. Very convenient and hassle free! I had the same great experience in the USA, and in South Africa.

No hidden surprises.

It was easy to understand, easy to set up, easy to use. I was notified each country I went into of call rates etc so there was no hidden surprises. Will definitely be using it on my next travels.
